Hey All!
I have been inspired by other wonderful librarians in this district to start a blog! I will (hopefully) post every month about what is going on in the library.

November was Native American Month.  Our school celebrated by creating some awesome projects!  Pre K made vests using paper bags and painted Native American designs on them. The students wore their vests for their Thanksgiving Feast. The paper bags were donated from Randall's.  Thank you Randall's!!!

Kindergarten read many Paul Goble stories and created their own blankets using colorful die cuts.

First Grade learned about pictographs and created their own.  They used "buffalo" skin to paint their symbols.  The "buffalo" skin was paper bags that we wet with water and squeezed dried to get the skin look.

Second grade read folktales by Paul Goble that explained about animals and their powers.  The students came up with their own animals and the animal's powers.

Third through fifth graders researched tribes that have lived in Texas and North America. Students chose a tribe, researched a topic such as homes or food, and then had to recreate it using clay, sticks or other items that the Native Americans would have used. The students worked on this project for two months.
